UULALA: October 2019 Newsletter

Join us every Sunday at 10:30 am for Coffee and Fellowship; Service follows at 11:00 am at Camelia House, 709 Jefferson Blvd, Lafayette, LA. Child care is available.

Note: We will soon be moving to our new home at 1119 Johnston St., Building 12 (next to Dominos Pizza.) We still need a few items and things done before we move in. Until then, we will continue to have our Services at Camelia House.

We are a growing, lay-led religious community of diverse individuals. We offer reverent services, stimulating learning, social concerns, and a Welcoming Community.

UULALA
OCTOBER 2019
MONTHLY THEME: DEMOCRACY

Our fifth principle commits us to the use of the democratic process in our congregations and society. This is one of the ideals of America, and yet it is under attack. Democracy is messy, but essential. The last 3 years have taught us that democracy is fragile. It requires the right to vote, free speech and assembly, a free press, and, among other things, bipartisanship.

October Services Schedule:

13 -  Morris Hoagland, Community – We Drink from Wells We did not Dig + membership meeting to vote on tshirts and other issues

01 - UULALA Board Meeting 6 pm at 1119 Johnston, bldg. 12

The UULALA Social Concerns Committee announced our three Fellowship Projects for the coming year:

Move the Mindset
McComb Veazey
VITA Volunteer Instructors Teaching Adults

Our Fellowship will support each organization through group and individual volunteering as well as providing some financial support for projects of Move the Mindset.

The Social Concerns Committee will be organizing and promoting events throughout the year to support these organizations and offer an opportunity to our congregation for outreach and community service.
