UULALA Weekly News for October 20-27, 2019

UNITARIAN UNIVERSALIST FELLOWSHIP OF LAFAYETTE
WEEKLY NEWS FOR OCTOBER 20-27, 2019

Hello, fellow UU's!

Last Sunday, October 20th's service was led by Mary Guirard and the presentation title was "Working Toward Liberation - A True Democracy" given by Elaine Clement.

Elaine pointed out that developing good communications skills is important for preserving our society and government. Then she directed interactive activities where members of the congregation paired up and spoke with each other about people they would like to reach and better communicate with and things we really love about nature. It was a lot of fun!

The Order of Service can be viewed here

Elaine Clement is proud to be Cajun and Francophone.   She spent 16 years building an international network of Francophones and Francophiles at CODOFIL and currently runs Tourism and the Acadian Memorial in St. Martinville.     She leads Cajun and Francophone Liberation and has been a certified Peer Counseling teacher for 25 years.     "I grew up across the street from the swamps in Morgan City, and I just adore, Louisiana, its people and environment.  It's become my life work to liberate my mind and work toward the ending of racism and other oppressions and the destruction our planet, while dancing!"

Next Sunday, October 27th's Service will be led by Scott Ferguson who will give a sermon on "Democracy and Faith" by Evan Keely. The premise of the sermon is that Religion and Politics are intertwined. And differences in political views should not prevent us from accepting and supporting each other. We gain strength in diversity!

Please join us at our new building located at 1119 Johnston Street for our weekly service: coffee and community from 10:30 to 11 and service at 11. All are welcome!"
