Hi Kiera,

We are lifting our voices to Create Climate Justice in Minnesota. Today, we have an opportunity to show up to Stop Line 3 and join water protectors in the struggle for a protected critical ecosystem that impacts all of us. Join Side With Love and Create Climate Justice on Wednesday, August 25 to build the power we need to protect treaty rights and stop the dangerous Line 3 pipeline.

Enbridge is racing to complete Line 3, and aims to finish construction and have oil flowing by the end of the year. By allowing Enbridge to build Line 3, Minnesota state leaders and agencies are violating treaties, preventing Anishinaabe communities from exercising their rights to hunt, fish and engage in cultural practices. They are ignoring the fact that Line 3 would release 50 coal power plants' worth of greenhouse gases, even as the newest IPCC report shows time is running out to stop the worst effects of climate change. MN state leaders have had years to take action but have sat back -- and worse, Gov. Walz has directed state agencies to speed up construction.

Given MN state leaders' failures, we need President Biden to step in and cancel this pipeline. Indigenous leaders and allies have been fighting this pipeline for years, and although Enbridge nears the end of construction, our fight is far from over.

Indigenous water protectors and allies -- UUs among them -- have been walking 256 miles from the headwaters of the Mississippi River to the Minnesota Capitol to call for a stop to the Line 3 pipeline --- they will be arriving at the MN Capitol on Wednesday, Aug 25, and spending the afternoon in ceremony, solidarity, and action to stop Line 3.

If you are close enough to be there in person, please be at the Minnesota Capitol on Wednesday, to welcome the water walkers or join them on the last stretch of their journey!

For those who do not live close enough to attend in person, Side With Love, MUUSJA, UUSC, & UU Ministry for Earth are hosting an online gathering on Wednesday (8/25) at 11 am PT / 12 MT / 1 CT / 2 ET, to provide a space for people of faith and conscience to join together in solidarity action, learning, prayer, and witness to support the events happening on the ground in Minnesota.

Unitarian Universalists are mobilizing UUs in solidarity with Indigenous front-line communities. Around 11:50 am PT / 12:50 MT / 1:50 CT / 2:50 ET, this virtual gathering will become a watch party for the live-streams of the water protectors' convergence at the Minnesota capitol.

Attendance is limited to 300 Zoom connections. If the room is full, look for a live-stream at the Side With Love Facebook page

If you cannot attend either of these gatherings, you can still take action on your own time by telling President Biden and the Army Corps of Engineers to Stop Line 3!

When we  on the side of love, we commit to recognizing the common threads in the justice struggles of marginalized communities, and to remaining steadfast in our work to support these communities. Please share this invitation far and wide. Our faith's reverence for the interdependent web of all existence requires our commitment and action now.
