Fw: UUA General Assembly 2022: GA Contractor and Volunteer Opportunities

Dr. Martin Luther King was the Ware lecturer in 1966.  See the link to his talk.

My hope to go to GA this year is not high.
We plan to be in Ellendale, ND by then.  Me going depends on ease of flying from Bismark or Fargo to there, and my and Bob's ability to take care of ourselves.  Let me know if any of you plan to attend.

Linda

The Consultant is hired to help the General Assembly and Conferences staff group and GA planning teams de-center whiteness in its work, manage and maintain right relationship between GA staff, volunteers, identity and professional groups, and GA attendees. The General Assembly Content Librarian (the Librarian) is the "one stop shop" for all GA content including pre-recorded videos, scripts, captioning files, graphics, and music. The Librarian builds and maintains the content library – a comprehensive resource catalog of GA content containing links to the location of all files, organized by event/content type. Graphics Designer, GA Tech Team (virtual and in-person)
The General Assembly Graphics Lead (the Graphics Lead) works closely with the GA Production Team prior to GA to produce on-screen graphics such as title slides, transitional slides, and end credits. The Graphics Lead also supports with video editing and production of featured video shorts such as the history of the Ware Lecture. This role also leads any volunteers assigned to the graphics team. During GA, the Graphics Lead is an on-site role - keeping graphics current, responding to changes and needs that arise especially during Business Sessions.

Music Licensing Coordinator (virtual)
Identify the rights holders of musical works. Negotiate musical works licenses based on the needs of the worship and production teams.

Networking/Chat Hosts (virtual)
Welcome attendees to online chat spaces. Provide discussion prompts and assist attendees in interacting with one another as a function of community building. Remove inappropriate content and remove participants who do not honor the community agreement. BIPOC strongly encouraged to apply.

Safety Team Lead (in-person)
The safety team will respond to and intervene in incidents of harm, attend to crises both medical and emotional and interact with outside agencies including the police towards the safety of convening participants.

Worship Coordinator (virtual and in-person)
The General Assembly Worship Coordinator ("GAWC") is an administrative role supporting GA worship leaders with preparation for worship at GA. This includes communicating and managing completion of all production, accessibility and inclusion, and music-related guidelines. The GAWC will work closely with the General Assembly Music Coordinator and GA Production Manager. The GAWC will be experienced in promoting high standards, best practices, cultural sensitivity, and cooperation among collaborating teams. In this case, the teams include ministers, worship leaders, musicians, production, and volunteers.
Additional Volunteer Opportunities
Each year, General Assembly is made possible by the contributions of hundreds of volunteers who do everything from editing videos for the on-demand library to hanging banners in the convention center. GA Volunteers typically work 20 hours, including trainings. All will be expected to attend online trainings (one hour of Anti-Racism, Anti-Oppression, Multi-Cultural training and one to two hours of job-specific training) to be scheduled in May and June. Some (e.g., editors) will work before GA, most will work during GA.
Friday Flashback
We hope you have a wonderful holiday weekend. In honor of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, we invite you to read the Ware Lecture Dr. King delivered to the 1966 General Assembly titled Don't Sleep Through the Revolution.
Benefits of Early Registration
Help us serve our community by registering early! The sooner we know how many UUs will attend GA, the sooner we can finalize decisions about what and how much to invest in production technology, speakers, programming, accessibility services, music, worship services, and financial support for attendees and volunteers. If need be, make a deposit using our payment plan. It's one way to let us know you plan to attend. If your plans or situation change, your in-person registration is convertible to virtual participation; GA 2022 will be a multi-platform event, with participants gathering both online and in-person.
