"I'm fundamentally a hopeful person, because I know that decisions made the world as it is and that better decisions can change it. Nothing about our situation is inevitable or immutable, but you can't solve a problem with the consciousness that created it." ― Heather McGhee, The Sum of Us: What Racism Costs Everyone and How We Can Prosper Together Happy Tuesday, friends!
We invite you and your communities to join any or all of the upcoming gatherings for the month of March. Environmental Justice + Heather McGhee: March 30 @ 5pm PT/6pm MT/7pm CT/8pm ET The UUMFE BIPOC Caucus is calling all changemakers! This month we're taking lessons from Heather McGhee in finding places of radical change and necessary hope as we bring both of these themes home to ourselves and our communities. The reality is we can no longer operate without bridging the relationship between racial injustice and our climate crises. It's time to dive in deep as we learn from Heather's talk on the Sum of Us and then challenge ourselves to take what we learned to ourselves and our communities. To all who work in myriad ways to build a culture of environmental justice and possibility, especially now, thank you! Yours on the journey, Aly Tharp (they/them or she/hers) and Daniel Lawlor (he/him), Co-Directors, Unitarian Universalist Ministry for Earth | PS.
